This course will give student teachers an understanding of the nature of Reading, its component parts and the challenges associated with classroom instruction. It also introduces them to the complexities of Reading within the context of literacy development and it explores theories and models that govern the teaching of Reading; it provides instructional strategies for different levels of Reading development and enables opportunities for the classroom application of theories and methodologies that are learned.
